CAFO Ordinances

Since Kosciusko County is such a unique county, boasting of at least 100 lakes and is also known for family farmers reaching back five generations, we would like to see our county adopt ordinances that will fit our needs and not the understanding of some person sitting on a board, at IDEM, in the big city of Indianapolis.
We owe it to the residents of Kosciusko County to keep our lakes and farm land in the best possible condition. We take pride in the traditional family farmers who work tirelessly for the good of all of us. We would like to see sustainable farming continue with as little government as possible. We want to keep big factory farming from running out the traditional farmer. We do not want to see our residents faced with the possibility of having to move from a home they have worked so diligently to make, just that, their home, when faced with having to live next door to to a CAFO (confined animal feeding operation) because no ordinance is set that prohibits such a happening. We need to guard against practices that are detrimental to the health and well being of our people.
Our Area Plan and Commissioners need to work for the people of our county, not against them. Kosciusko County has always held itself in high esteem. Let’s work together, toward goals that will enhance this present generation and the generations of the future.
