NORTH MANCHESTER – C. Robert Michel, 83, North Manchester, died at 7:15 p.m. May 21, 2015, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born Aug. 7, 1931, in South Whitley, to Carl E. and Inez P. Burch Michel. On April 16, 1950, he married Joan M. Poer, who survives.
He was a member of First Brethren Church, North Manchester. He and his wife enjoyed camping and they spent many winters in Texas. He loved farming. He also enjoyed horseback riding at Salamonie Reservoir, mowing at Village Hamlet Mobil Home Park and spending time with his family and teasing his grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard L. (and spouse Nan) Michel, North Manchester, and Mark E. (and spouse Peggy) Michel, Pierceton; two daughters, Becky S. (and spouse Tom) Hendrix, Fort Wayne, and Roberta K. (and spouse Edward) Foor, Rochester; two sisters, M. Lavon Behny and M. Leanne (and spouse Jerry) Flinn, all of North Manchester; two step-granddaughters; four step-great-grandchildren; 10 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gene Behny, and one granddaughter, Amber Michel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Brethren Church, 407 N. Sycamore St., North Manchester, with the Rev. Kurt Stout officiating. Burial is in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
