Walston Covers New Medicaid Law

Warsaw attorney Wayne Walston of the law firm Beers Mallers Backs & Salin, LLP, recently addressed regional and state conferences of professional advisors regarding recent changes in the Indiana Medicaid law.

The new law became effective Nov. 1 and drastically revises delivery of state financial assistance for costs of long term health care.

Walston addressed a gathering of the Central Indiana Estate Planning Council alumnae of Ball State University at a luncheon event held at the Alumnae Center.

In attendance were more than 100 professional advisors from financial, insurance, banking, accountant, and attorney disciplines.

The next day Walston addressed the Annual Elder Law Section meeting sponsored by the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum in Indianapolis.

In attendance were more than 200 attorneys gathered for two days to review and discuss changes in Indiana Medicaid law and its possible effects on elders and persons with disabilities.

Walston stated: "It is extremely important that the entire senior advisor and health care provider community understand the serious consequences to the elderly and persons with disabilities if planning occurs without sufficient knowledge of the new Medicaid law."

Walston and his local partner, Dan Leininger counsel the elderly and persons with disabilities on planning for costs of long term care, as well as to matters of estate planning and estate administration

Their offices are at 2174 North Pointe Drive, Warsaw and can be contacted at 574 267-4300 for further information or counseling services.
