Avon and Mary Ellen Bushong, Syracuse, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 30, 2010. Avon and the former Mary Ellen Kunkel were married Sept. 30, 1945, in Elkhart, by the Rev. Lawrence Hoeppner.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a post master and she retired from the cafeteria department of the Syracuse School Corp.

The couple have two children, Doug (and spouse Liz) Bushong, Johnson City, Tenn., and Mary Kay Ridings, Syracuse; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

They will celebrate with a family dinner
