Burley "Baye" Prater, 61, of Silver Lake, died at 10:10 a.m. March 5, 2010, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born April 2, 1948, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Burl and Martha Hall Prater. On May 7, 1966, he married Ora A. Crace, who survives.

Living in Silver Lake most of his life, he was a truck driver for Warsaw Moving and Storage, retiring 22 years ago. He enjoyed playing pool and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Surviving are a daughter, Tina L. Prater, Silver Lake; a son, Jeffery Prater, Silver Lake; two brothers, Alvin Prater and Jay (and spouse Beth) Ancil II, all of Silver Lake; four sisters: Ruby Pennington, Pearlie Whitaker, Irene Risner and Edath Crace, all of Silver Lake; two grandsons, Brandon and Bradey Prater; marital brothers, Johnny Pennington, Lloyd Whitaker, Harry Crace and Paul Risner; numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be private at Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, with Pastor Glenn Hall officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
