Hoping to fill the void of recent downtown shops closing, Buffalo Street Emporium has opened its doors.

Owner Cindy Dobbins said her store, located where clothing store Ruby formerly was, is looking to offer small businesses a place to do some one-stop shopping.

With the close of NBS Office Supplies, Tri-Namic Printing and Bishop Books, Buffalo Street Emporium will hope to offer what they offered in one place.[[In-content Ad]]The store will offer office supplies as well as party supplies and Albany's candy from Merillville.

By the end of this month, Dobbins said Lisa Robinson hopes to have a book store open at the back of the emporium.

Dobbins' family owned its own office supply place in Warsaw for 30 years, so for her it's familiar territory.

The emporium also has scrapbooking essentials from Hope Beasley, who Dobbins said is a well-known name in the scrapbooking community.

The 2,400-square-foot building also will house gourmet cupcakes and vintage candy like candy cigarettes.

The back of Buffalo Street Emporium, as well as the downstairs, will be used for the bookstore.

Once the bookstore is open, the store will offer coffee and tea for customers.

Bistro tables will be set up to allow customers to take time to enjoy their books and beverages.

Buffalo Street Emporium, 113 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
