He was born May 19, 1919, in Nappanee, to Arthur Wayne and Maude Freed Hoffer. On Jan. 26, 1946, in Etna Green, he married Juanita Stackhouse, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer, a bus driver for Wa-Nee Schools for 29 years; and a driver of wagon tours for Amish Acres for 15 years, retiring in 2007. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God, where he served as usher and a former board member and was a Scott Township Advisory Board member.
Also surviving are two sons, Timothy Hoffer, Indianapolis, and Mark (and spouse Bev) Hoffer, Huntington; a daughter, Susan (and spouse Tim) Herrli, Elkhart; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Services were Tuesday at Mt. Tabor Church of God with the Rev. Stan Owen officiating. Burial was in Stony Point Cemetery with military graveside services by members of Nappanee American Legion.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, was in charge of arrangements.
