Two brothers, ages 14 and 8, were caught Tuesday in Pierceton breaking in to a house.
A neighbor witnessed the boys breaking in to the house, and called the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday. According to police reports, the two deputies who answered the call were stopped by another witness, who said the two suspects had just left the residence by the back door.
The deputies spotted the boys in a wooded area behind the house and ordered them to stay where they were. When the deputies approached the suspects, the boys were eating ice cream sandwiches they reportedly took from the home.
After witnesses identified the suspects as the boys they had seen breaking into the house, the deputies took the boys to the sheriff's office. The younger boy had a gold watch and three lighters; his older brother had basketball cards. Some of the items were identified by the homeowner.
The 8-year-old was released to the custody of his father. The 14-year-old, who was already on probation, will be placed on electronic home monitoring and was released to his father. [[In-content Ad]]
