COLUMBIA CITY – Brenda Shilling, 63, Syracuse, passed away at 2:12 p.m. Nov. 13, 2015, at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas.
She was born July 12, 1952, in Wolf Lake, to Junior and Geraldine Barker Graves. On March 1, 1975, she married her high school sweet heart, Jerry Shilling, who survives. They were married 40 years.
She graduated from South Whitley High School with the class of 1970. She had worked for Lincoln National Life until becoming a mother. As her children got older, she started working for her husband’s company, Wabash Valley Manufacturing, retiring in 2000. She was very active and enjoyed traveling, socializing and being there for her family.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jodi (and spouse Shon Little) Shilling, Winnetka, Calif.; a son, Justin (and spouse Danielle) Shilling, Warsaw; her mother, Geraldine Graves, South Whitley; two sisters, Becky (and spouse Junior) Martin, Claypool, and Kimberly (and spouse Scott) Brown, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Emma Shilling and Pixie Little, along with one more on the way, Whimsy Little; her brother-in-law, Mike (and Kathy) Shilling, North Webster; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Graves; a brother, Rick Graves; a nephew, Kameron Brown; and an infant granddaughter, Daisy Little.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes, Columbia City. Burial will follow at South Whitley Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
