Tim Harman, Bremen, is seeking the District 17 state representative seat in the Indiana House of Representatives.

He hopes to use his business background to represent the district.

District 17 covers Marshall and most of Fulton counties as well as Tippecanoe Valley and Triton school corporations.

Harman’s opponent is  Francis Ellert (R-Culver).

Harman recently opened a Subway restaurant in Mentone in December, and has plans to open a pizza store next door sometime in the future.

He owns and operates the Subway and Bourbon Street Pizzas in Bourbon and North Webster, and The Pizza Co., Nappanee.

At the age of 7, Harman’s family moved to Plymouth from Niles, Mich.

Eleven years later, Harman graduated from Plymouth High School in 1985. He then went on to college earning his bachelors degree, and later a master’s degree, in education in 1994.

In 2005, Harman started Harman Restaurants, a restaurant company that today employs approximately 100 people.

Harman said an issue important to him is the economy.

He plans to use his entrepreneur skills to work to make Indiana a leader in job growth and innovation.

He said the best way a state can generate jobs is to provide a positive business climate for businesses to hire and innovate.

He said it is important to reduce taxes and regulations while working with companies and business development centers to bring jobs back to Indiana and District 17.

He believes members of the general assembly should protect the unborn and respect life, and protect the sanctity of marriage.

Harman and his wife reside in Bremen along with their four children. They are members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bremen.[[In-content Ad]]
