A case of mistaken identities earned an area man a year of house arrest.

Randell Brashear, 63, of 9308 S. Otter Trail, Claypool, was sentenced to 1-1/2 years in prison by Superior Court Judge Duane Huffer Wednesday.

Huffer suspended the sentence with Brashear serving one year on house arrest and the remainder on probation.

Brashear also must get rid of all of his guns.

The sentence comes after Brashear was charged with criminal recklessness after a Jan. 31 shooting.

Brashear mistook Kosciusko County Deputy Sgt. Don Wiesehan for a prowler.

Brashear reported a suspicious vehicle to county dispatchers. Minutes later, Wiesehan was patrolling the area when Brashear fired shots at the officer four times.[[In-content Ad]]
