An investigation into reported thefts of three handguns – a .22-caliber, a .32-caliber and a .9-mm – from vehicles Aug. 8 and Aug. 11 came to a head Monday when Syracuse Police and Kosciusko County Drug Task Force plainclothes officers staged a buy of one of the reported stolen handguns from two boys in the town, according to Syracuse Town Marshal Tony Ciriello.
After the deal, police placed both boys under arrest.
In subsequent interviews with police, those boys told detectives that two other boys were also involved in the gun thefts and sales, Ciriello said.
Police then arrested those juveniles, as well.
Two of the boys were held in Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Facility. Two others were released to their parents.
None of the boys were identified by police.
Ciriello said the investigation remains alive, and that he expects additional arrests to come down.[[In-content Ad]]
