Boy Scout Troop 715 Visits White House
July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
By Staff Report-
Planning started for this trip last fall. Assistant Scoutmaster Joe Hawn wanted the Scouts to see the White House and knew it would take some advance reservations and security clearance to get on the admittance list.
It all paid off last Friday when the group entered the White House grounds and went through four more security check points before finally being cleared for the White House tour. No dignitaries were seen but most of the formal rooms were visited.
At the Smithsonian, among other things, they saw the Hope Diamond and the Air & Space Museum.
Over this past weekend, they visited the Gettysburg battle fields. They arrived in time to see the annual Gettysburg reenactment take place in the actual Civil War battlefields.
Today, the group plans to tour the Ford Theatre, the U.S. Mint and the Capital Building.
The adventure will conclude later this week with the Scouts white-water rafting the New River in West Virginia.[[In-content Ad]]
