The board members of Junior Achievement serving Warsaw and Tippecanoe Valley reported the annual fall Bowl-A-Thon held Saturday was a success, securing over $10,000 for the JA programs in Warsaw and Tippe Valley schools.
Board members secured giveaways and sponsorships from area businesses to support the event, according to a press release from JA. Bowlers enjoyed the sports theme “Are You Ready for some FootBOWL?”
Sponsors for this year’s event were major title sponsors Symmetry Medical, DJ Construction and Louis Dreyfus Commodities. Corporate sponsors included Paragon Medical, Warsaw GMC, Zolman Farms, 1st Source Bank, Century Link, Biomet, Creighton Brothers, Dilling Group and Lake City Bank. Participating teams came from Symmetry Medical, Paragon Medical, Louis Dreyfus, TranzStar/Zolman Farms, TCU, Lake City Bank, 1st Source Bank, Kohl’s, KREMC, Lincoln Elementary School and Claypool Elementary teachers and the Kosciusko Fraternal Order of Police.
The top fundraising company was Zolman Farms/Tranzstar and they took home the trophy.
“In these difficult financial times there exists the greatest need to understand such issues as personal finance, economics and workforce readiness. We must prepare our young people to meet the challenges ahead,” said Jeremy Mullins, from Louis Dreyfus and board president. “This can not be accomplished without the generosity and support of the school system, businesses and community as well. The children in school today will someday lead our city, state and nation. I would also like to thank the tremendous support we had from board members Karen Francis, Jennifer Orr, Karen Mayer, Mike Miller, Doug Baumgardner, David Hoffert and Jamie Gift.”
Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana was incorporated in 1952. It is now one of the largest operations in the country, according to the press release. This year, Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana will reach over 120,000 students across a 30 county area and in Warsaw/Tippe Valley over 4,400 students will benefit from the many JA programs.
