Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved Warsaw Police Department seeking quotes to purchase two Chevrolet Tahoes and one Caprice PPV.
Scott Whitaker, Warsaw police chief, said the city is pursuing a GM product because they offer a V-8 engine, there  is a longer warranty and maintenance costs are less.
The board also denied a request from Green Acres Mobile Home Park to pay the mobile home park a $746.54 credit from a late fee for wastewater services.
Their payment was due on Dec. 10 and the city received the payment on Dec. 15, said Mary Lou Plummer, wastewater payment office manager.
The board felt the mobile home park had time to its bill.
“I have no sympathy, you pay a bill when it’s due,” said Charlie Smith, board member.
The board also approved closing Buffalo Street between Main and Center streets April 25 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. for the Beaman Home, CASA and Victim Assistance Hero Run 5K.
The board also approved:
• A $172,575 contract with Brown Equipment Co. for a street sweeper purchase.
• A $75,000 bid for 1st Source Bank to purchase a Lake Street property the city is disposing of.
• A $13,271.32 bid for Wabash Electric to replace the high pressure sodium lamps at Central, Municipal and Bixler Parks and Pike Lake.
• A $600 contract with Jamie Miller High Life Band, Granger, to perform May 29 at 7 p.m. as part of the Central Park Concert Series.
• A $750 contract with Tim Anderson/Bel Airs to perform July 17 at 7 p.m. during the Central Park Concert Series.
• A $360 contract with Rebecca Anglin to teach Zumba workshops Oct. 6 to 22 at Pete Thorn Center Gym.
• An agreement with H.J. Umbaugh & Associates for stormwater and sewage works financial management services.
• A $14,960  contract between the Warsaw Wastewater Utility and Wastewater Solutions for wastewater training,
• A $42,000 contract between Warsaw Wastewater Utility and Wessler Engineering for the technology park lift station engineering services.
• A contract between the city and CGI Communications for a community highlight video that has videos that are embedded onto the city website’s home page.
• A maintenance agreement for the mayor’s and human resources offices copiers.
• A salary for Lewis Fuller at $1,904.46 bi-weekly as a Warsaw Police Department corporal and creating a part-time janitor position at $9.50 an hour to keep with maintenance at city hall and the Wastewater Treatment Utility offices.[[In-content Ad]]
