Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday approved Warsaw Police Department purchasing seven bullet-proof vests.
The vests will be purchased using $3,246.59 in funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. Warsaw will be required to match the amount awarded.
The board also approved WPD applying to the U.S. Department of Justice for grant funding to purchase vests next year.
The board approved a $10,357.40 payment for preliminary engineering work to A & Z Engineering for the Husky Trail road improvement project.
The board approved a $11,200 contract between the city and Martin Riley Architects and Engineers for site work for the Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory third fire station.
The territory is preparing to ready the new fire station building site on the south side of the city on CR 200S west of Warsaw Community Church. This will require moving a significant quantity of fill dirt onto the site in order to create a suitable site for the fire station, according to Mike Brubaker, Warsaw-Wayne Township fire chief.
The board also approved:
• A $14 hourly wage for Grady Schmucker, street laborer; Heather Frazier, police administrative assistant, at $16.59 an hour; Chelsea Bradford, building and planning department administrative assistant for summer help, at $10 an hour; Tanner Hobbs, maintenance tech at Warsaw Wastewater Treatment Utility facility, at $15.29 an hour; and Jeff Beeler, Warsaw street superintendent, to serve on Warsaw Plan Commission receiving $30 per meeting.
• A $1,942.20 annual agreement between Cardinal Tracking and Warsaw Police Department for software license and customer support.
• A temporary road closure on High Street between Center Street and the Warsaw Community Public Library’s parking lot entrance on July 19 from noon to 5 p.m. for a carnival for the 2014 Summer Reading Program.
• Contracts with Wyndham Garden for hotel accommodations for the classic rock, blues and barbecue and country concerts.
• A $34,500 contract with DT Construction Services for new doors on the Buffalo Street side of city hall.[[In-content Ad]]
