BOW Approves WPD Applying For Bulletproof Vest Grant

Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved Warsaw Police Department applying for a grant to purchase bulletproof vests.
The U.S. Department of Justice and Bureau of Justice Assistance is again offering the bulletproof vest partnership program. The partnership grant pays half the cost of bulletproof vests for law enforcement officers.
The police department budget will pay for the initial cost of the vests, and the partnership grant will reimburse half the cost to the city.
The grant will supply seven vests at approximately $8,400.
The board also approved:
• An agreement with Realgy Energy Services to be a natural gas supplier for the city.
• Closing the alley south of city hall May 3 from noon to 1 p.m. for a cancer benefit.
• Closing Center and Buffalo streets May 14 from 5 to 11:30 p.m. for the Fat and Skinny Tire Festival.
• Taxi cab permits for David and Holly Cesaretti and Larry and Mary Rock.
• An agreement with FireCatt for hose and ground ladder testing for Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department.
• An agreement with CFS Inspections for annual aerial inspection, and pressure and flow tests for Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department.
• A $738 contract for an amusement entertainment permit for the parks department by the Department of Homeland Security Division of Fire Safety Permit Division.
• A $192,372 contract with Country Auto Center, Plymouth, for purchasing four 2015 Dodge Ram trucks for Warsaw Street Department.
The board also reviewed bids from Glenbrook Dodge, but they were incomplete and did not provide bid specifications and a non-conclusive affidavit.[[In-content Ad]]
