The board approved a $371,000 engineering agreement between the city and A & Z Engineering that was presented by Jeremy Skinner, city planner.
Charlie Smith, board member, made the motion, seconded by board member Jeff Grose.
The contract will allow the city to move forward with a notice to proceed on preliminary engineering with a 2015 construction start planned.
Skinner said preliminary engineering will proceed through this year with right of way engineering beginning the end of this year to stay on a 2015 construction start date.
Skinner said in the next couple of weeks, once the notice to proceed is issued by Indiana Department of Transportation, there will be surveyors and markers on Husky Trail to prepare for the project.
Letters will be sent to adjacent property owners along Husky Trail to inform them why markers are being put up. Neighborhood meetings also will be planned.
The city has completed the INDOT’s consultant selection process, and negotiated a preliminary engineering agreement with A & Z Engineering.
The preliminary phase will involve the engineering roadway design and right of way acquisition services as outlined within the agreement.
The city will pay 20 percent of the project, and INDOT will pay for 80 percent using federal funds.
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer said the city is working with the Michiana Area Council on Government to assist the city with keeping its timelines.
The board also approved a $300,000 letter of credit for Anchorage Properties to develop the commercial subdivision on the north side of Anchorage Road.
The letter of credit will allow them to record their plat, start work on infrastructure construction and sell outlots for development.
In other business the board approved a $148,000 contract with Pro-Form for installing a 48-inch storm water line on West Market Street.
The board also reviewed a $308,400 quote from Perma-Form. Funds for the project are available in the cumulative capital development repairs and maintenance budget.
The board approved a six-month revaluation for Brandon Allen, Warsaw firefighter, for a $1,613.60 bi-weekly salary.[[In-content Ad]]
