She was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Mentone, to Mervel and Ruth Schweitzer Smith. On May 20, 1933, in Etna Green, she married Kenneth Gragg, her husband of 81 years, who died Sept. 8, 2014.
She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, for more than 50 years, and she lived out her faith daily. She enjoyed gardening and painting ceramics.
For 20 years, she and Kenny wintered in Fort Meyers and Arcadia, Fla. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and was very proud of her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Joann (and spouse Merl) Heckaman, Warsaw; a son, Don (and spouse Diana) Gragg, Sturgis, Mich.; five grandchildren: Jay (and spouse Sharon) Heckaman, Silver Lake; Kay (and spouse Robert) Ruggier and Eric (and spouse Nicole) Heckaman, all of Warsaw; Tim (and spouse Noel) Heckaman, Claypool; and Tona Molebash, Bremen; one granddaughter-in-law, Julie Heckaman, Claypool; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Heckaman, who died July 12, 1998; a great-granddaughter, Josie Heckaman, who died March 20, 2010; and a brother, Frank Smith, who died Feb. 5, 2001.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, with Pastor Dave Hummel, Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home.
