Warsaw attorney Peggy L. Bodin has joined the law firm of Beers Mallers Backs & Salin, LLP, concentrating her practice in the areas of Elder Law and Health Care Law.

Bodin was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Indiana on Oct. 15 when sworn in as an attorney. She graduated from the Valparaiso University School of Law, Valparaiso, in May.

Bodin was awarded a bachelor's degree in Gerontology from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. In 1998 she completed her Master of Social Worker Degree and received a Specialist in Aging certificate from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Michigan.

She worked in the health care industry throughout her career as a social worker, first working with older adults in nursing home and assisted living facilities and focusing on health care, advance directives, end of life care, and ethical issues. She was a social worker and member of the Clinical Ethics Center and Family Matters Support Services at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, Dearborn, Michigan. She also held social worker positions at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan and was employed as a Case Manager/Social Worker for Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Indiana.

She served as Director of Social Services for Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice in Warsaw before returning to school at Valparaiso University School of Law.

As part of Valparaiso's Legal Extern program, Bodin worked in the Office of Corporate Compliance at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. She began interning with Beers Mallers Backs & Salin, LLP, in January 2010. During law school, Bodin authored an award winning paper for the National Association of Elder Law Attorney's 2010 Student Writing Competition. The paper, entitled "Extreme Makeover: Medicare Needs A Face Lift," discusses the evolution of the Medicare program and proposes changes to the current system.

Bodin is also an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for Veterans Benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Bodin joins Wayne Walston and Dan Leininger as the Warsaw attorney contingents of the 23 attorney firm of Beers Mallers Backs & Salin, LLP, which has its headquarters in Fort Wayne and branch offices in LaGrange and Warsaw.

Walston commented "We are extremely fortunate as a law firm and as a community to have someone with the combined health care knowledge and experience and demonstrated legal scholarship possessed by Peggy Bodin. She will make a tremendous and immediate contribution to serving the legal needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities."

Bodin and her husband, Darin Bodin, moved to the Warsaw area in 2002 from Michigan.

Darin serves as a group product director for Knee Marketing at DePuy Orthopedics, Warsaw.[[In-content Ad]]
