Bobby Joe Gist, 78, Warsaw, went home to be with Jesus at 12:40 p.m. Aug. 31, 2015, in his residence.
He was born April 18, 1937, in Centerville, Ark., to Arrie and Ruby Underwood Gist. On July 31, 1976, in Warsaw, he married Bonnie Jean Rohrer, who survives in Warsaw. They were married for 39 years.
He lived in Arkansas until he moved to the Warsaw area April 10, 2000. He worked for Tyson Foods in Russellville, Ark., for 22 years, retiring in 1999, and was then employed by the Times-Union newspaper for 15 years. He was a member of United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Merla Mae (and spouse Mitchell) Ousley, Warsaw; a son, David (and spouse Cathy) Bryant, Bourbon; a brother, Arrie Gist Jr., Russellville, Ark.; a sister, Pearl Nunckles, Dardanelle, Ark.; eight grandchildren: Josh and Natalie Ousley and Daisy (and spouse Jason) Hollon, all of Warsaw; Tracey (and spouse Matt) Ingle, Tina (and spouse Scott) Allen, Dava Bryant and Matthew (and spouse KC) Bryant all of Nappanee; Matthew Hummel, Bourbon; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bubby, Harold and Jim Gist.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at United Pentecostal Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Dan Cox officiating. Burial is in Island Cemetery, Milford.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
