Recording the plat will allow Meijer to sell five outlots at the property at U.S. 30 and Anchorage Road.
Board member Charlie Smith made the motion to approve the deed, seconded by board member Jeff Grose.
At the April 8 Warsaw Plan Commission meeting, the commission approved creating six new commercial lots at the southeast corner of the U.S. 30 and Anchorage Road intersection.
Panda Express and Staples have expressed interest in two outlots and submitted design plans to the building and planning office, according to Jeremy Skinner, city planner. Both businesses also have erosion control study requirements completed.
The businesses have not yet purchased the lots from Meijer and still need building permits approved.
Skinner said once Panda Express and Staples purchase the outlots from Meijer, construction could begin as early as this year with no timetable for finished construction.
The board Wednesday approved the property deed for Meijer in order to clear up a legal description issue.
While Meijer was attempting to record the approved plat, there was a 200-foot overlap between two properties. By approving the deed, the overlap can be legally cleared up, allowing Meijer to record the plat.
The property cannot be sold until there are legal descriptions on the property and the plats must be recorded, which has been the hold up on the property purchases.
At this time, no other businesses have spoken for the three remaining outlots.
With Meijer occupying one of the lots currently, there are three outlots still available for purchase once Panda Express and Staples purchase the outlots from Meijer.
