Topics presented were how the 2011 legislative session will impact public schools, school boards and superintendents, policy development, and legal aspects, such as the Open Door Law and school board powers. They were presented by the Indiana School Boards Association staff.
Terry Spradlin, Center for Evaluation and Education Policy, discussed the changes in the state funding formula, as well as general school finance information.
Jeff Zaring, Indiana Department of Education, explained PL 221 changes, ranking schools, and the status of the Growth Model as a measure of student achievement.
Local board members and administrators from Warsaw Community Schools who attended were Superintendent Dr. Craig Hintz, board member Kent Adams, board secretary Delores Hearn, board member Dan Metzger, board member Jennifer Tandy and board president Deb Wiggins.
