Blue Oyster Cult To Headline Classic Rock Concert In Central Park

American rock band Blue Oyster Cult will headline the Warsaw Parks Department’s Classic Rock Concert on June 13 in Central Park.
The group will perform at 8 p.m.
Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety approved the $20,000 contract during Friday’s meeting.
The group was previously set to perform last June, but due to scheduling conflicts cancelled the performance.
Blue Oyster Cult is known for songs such as “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” “Godzilla” and “Burnin’ For You.”
In other matters, Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer announced a warming station will be available to the community Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion. The high Monday is forecasted to be -10 and the high Tuesday -3.
The board also approved agreements between the city and Warsaw Community High School for  concerts rain location. The agreements secure the Tiger Den for the classic rock and country concerts in instances of poor weather.
In other business the board:
• Approved a $5,400 contract with Code Enforcement Officer Lawrence Clifford for hearing officer services for 2014.
• Approved a maintenance agreement for the Gardens of Central Park between Warsaw and Anderson Property Management for the installation and maintenance of 18 satellite beds and 21 urns in Central Park.
• Approved the city applying for a Kosciusko REMC Operation Round-Up grant to offer a National Archery In The Schools Program. The program for youth and teens will provide archery skill instruction and practice.
• Approved agreements between the city and Pike, Center and Winona Lake preservation associations for weed control, fish stocking and lake studies.
• Approved the city applying for a $4,680 grant from the Kosciusko County Convention, Recreation and Visitor Commission for website design and development for the Warsaw-Winona Lake Ride and Walk Advisory Committee.
• Approved a contract for Our Father’s House to cater Daddy’s Little Sweetheart Dance Feb. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.
• A contract also was approved with Our Father’s House for catering for a Girl’s Night Out event June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.
• Approved a $4,800 agreement between Grace College and Kosciusko Lakes and Streams for participation in the Lakes In The Classroom program, Field Day K-12 education program and student art contest for K-12.
• Approved salaries for Ronald J. Nethaway to be promoted from corporal to detective at $1,879.05 bi-weekly and Ryan Moore to be promoted from patrolman to corporal at $1,884.18 bi-weekly.
The board also approved a $2,015 salary for an assistant street department superintendent, with the person to fill the position to be announced at the next meeting. The person will replace David Tackett, who is retiring after 33 years.[[In-content Ad]]
