Max and Betty Blackburn, Mentone, will mark their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 17. Max Allen Blackburn and Betty Lou Mellott were married Aug. 17, 1957, at Summit Chapel Methodist Church by the Rev. Dale Bardsley.

He is retired from farming and also worked at Cargill for more than 44 years. She worked at Manwaring Hatchery and in food service at Burket Elementary School.

The couple have two children, Mrs. James (Debra) McFadden, Mentone; and Greg (and wife Ligia) Blackburn, Los Gatos, Calif. They have four grandchildren.

The couple will celebrate the anniversary with an open house with friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Mentone United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. The couple also will celebrate with a trip to Hawaii in the fall.[[In-content Ad]]
