Bill Kolter, vice president of marketing and public affairs, said Sunday that more than 90 percent of the company’s approximately 900 eligible manufacturing floor workers took part in the vote. He said employees voted “strongly in favor of staying union-free.”
“Biomet is very pleased with the outcome of the election, and we are grateful to our team for their confidence and support,” he said in a statement by email. “We have always worked hard to provide each team member with a secure, safe, fair and team-oriented work environment, and will continue to work with our team to strengthen that culture.”
He said in a statement before the vote that the company does not believe a union is necessary and could be potentially counterproductive.
A Facebook page about the vote over unionization was created in May. It received 45 “likes” but generated little discussion ahead of the vote.[[In-content Ad]]
