AKRON – Billy L. Yeager, 79, of 401 S. Cherry St., Akron, died at 6:16 p.m. March 25, 2015, in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 4, 1936, in Leesburg, to the Rev. Victor R. and Clara C. Barnhart Yeager. On Sept. 27, 1959, in Long Beach, Calif., he married Janice C. Miller, who survives in Akron.
He lived in Akron for 40 years, coming from Middletown, Conn. He was a 1955 graduate of Burket School. He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 4, 1956, to July 1, 1975. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years at Akron, Twelve Mile, Logansport and Kokomo.
He was a member of the VFW #1343 and American Legion Post #36, both of Rochester, and Silver Creek Church of God.
He enjoyed going fishing and camping with his grandson, Garrett. He was dedicated to serving his church by delivering CDs to shut-ins.
Also surviving are three children: Melinda C. (and spouse Norman) Rohrer, San Jose, Calif.; Scott (and spouse Mandy) Yeager and Michelle (and spouse Troy) Foust, both of Mentone; four grandchildren: Nathan and Luke Rohrer, Olivia Yeager and Garrett Foust; three stepchildren: Mistie, KayLa and Josh, Winamac; one sister, Eloise (and spouse Max) Beery, Etna Green; and six step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Paul Yeager; and two sisters, Katheryn Hibschman and Esther Haney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Silver Creek Church of God with the Rev. Tom Craig and Jim Hibschman officiating. Burial is at Silver Creek Church of God with military honors by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services Sunday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron.
