NAPPANEE - Billie Eugene "Bill" Strang, 75, of 26146 CR 54, Nappanee, died at 4:47 a.m. May 16, 2010, in his residence following a brief illness with lung cancer.

He was born June 3, 1934, in Elkhart County, to Paul "Fred" and Hilda Watkins Strang. On Dec. 1, 1951, in Nappanee, he married Eleanor Mikel, who survives.

He graduated from Nappanee High School and retired from maintenance at Vitreous Steel, Nappanee, after 34 years. He was a member of First Brethren Church, Nappanee Conservation Club and Wyatt Conservation Club.

Also surviving are a daughter, Deb (and spouse Dan) Truex, Nappanee; a son, Rick (and spouse Amy) Strang, Nappanee; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his mother, Hilda May Strang, Nappanee; and a brother, Robert J. "Bob" (and spouse Carol) Strang, Syracuse. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Brethren Church, Nappanee, with the Rev. Tom Schiefer officiating. Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
