Bike Cop Makes Meth Bust

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

A bicycle patrol early this morning led to the arrest of a man who allegedly was in possession of seven grams of methamphetamine.

Thomas G. Hursey, 22, of 5347 W. Turner Road, Claypool, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:40 a.m. today for possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $10,000.

According to the Warsaw Police Department, a Warsaw officer patrolling the area near the intersection of Scott and Main streets early this morning came upon a suspicious man walking. The officer, who was patrolling the area because of recent thefts in the area, talked with Hursey, who reportedly admitted to having precursors to manufacturing methamphetamine as well as weighing scales in his possession. Hursey reportedly told the officer that he had traded pseudoephedrine pills for meth.

While the officer was handcuffing Hursey, about seven grams of methamphetamine were found in Hursey's possession along with blister packs of pseudoephedrine and the scales. More arrests may result, police said.
