Big Second Inning Lifts Oregon-Davis Past Triton

BOURBON - The Oregon-Davis Bobcats scored nine runs in the second inning and never looked back as they defeated host Trtion 9-0 in baseball action Wednesday. James Gunnels falls to 0-1 with the loss for Triton while Ryne Sweeney picked up the win after striking out seven and walking just one.

The Trojans managed just three hits and committed four errors in the games. Andrew Jensen hit a triple for Oregon-Davis while Devin Akers had a double.

Brandon Anthony and AJ Fleagle also pitched for the Trojans.

The game was Triton's season opener.

Wednesday in Syracuse

The East Noble Knights exploded for 11 runs in an 11-4 win over host Wawasee. East Noble scored five runs in the seventh inning to seal the deal. In defeat, Ashley Sharp had a hit and drove in two runs. Angie Beer had an RBi for the Warriors. Emilie Fleagle, Taylor Goshert and Catie Hapner each had hits for the Warriors. Hapner was saddled with the loss after pitching five innings and giving up four hits, six runs and six walks. Only two of the runs Hapner gave up were earned. Leigh Froebe pitched two innings of relief for Wawasee. With the loss, Wawasee falls to 0-6 on the season.

The Triton Trojans topped Caston 4-3 as both teams pounded out 13 hits. Jessica Ganshorn and Abby Reichert each had three hits for the Trojans and Bethany Kern moved to 1-0 as she picked up the win. Jessica Calvert knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning then Triton's defense held strong to save the win for the Trojans.
