SYRACUSE - Betty Lintz, 89, of Grace Village Retirement Community, died Dec. 26, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Jones, Mich., to Clarence and Florabelle East Timm. On Sept. 21, 1946, she married Joseph Lintz, who died in 1992.

She graduated from Constantine High School in 1938, and received two years of vocal training at DePaul University, Chicago, before being accepted by the Grand Rapids, Mich., Civic Light Opera Association. She also performed with the Philadelphia Light Opera Association. She earned a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich. She taught vocal music in the Constantine School System, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Porter Baptist Church, Jones.

Surviving are a son, Barry (and spouse Beverly) Lintz, Syracuse; a grandson, Terry (and spouse Christine) Lintz, Boston, Mass.; four step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at a later date in Poe Cemetery, Jones.

Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
