She was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Sycamore, Ill., to Carl Albert and Hazel Anna Nelson Nelson. On Oct. 11, 1962, she married Merl Schaaf, who died in November 1975.
A Kosciusko County resident since 1950, moving from Illinois, she worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons Inc., and Kimble Glass prior to Donnelley’s. She attended Dutchtown Brethren Church, Warsaw.
Surviving are a daughter, June (and spouse Monte) Reece, Warsaw; two sisters, Vera Worden, Sycamore, Ill, and Inez Sanders, Dekalb, Ill.; eight grandchildren: Deborah Daughtery, Westfield; Carl (and spouse Denyse) May, Winona Lake; Kelly (and spouse Todd) Earl, Warsaw; Pamela Smith, New Haven; Jenny Parnin, Fort Wayne; Tom (and spouse Krista) Parnin, Appleton, Wis.; Mark (and spouse Lisa) Parnin, San Antonio, Texas; and Timothy Parnin, Fort Wayne; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Parnin, who died Nov. 19, 1989; three sisters, Doris Hoppe, Barbara Blake and Marie Smith; and a brother, Morris Nelson.
A private family burial has been planned in Leesburg Cemetery.
No calling is planned.
