She was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Claypool to Edwin and Irene Minear Alexander. On Nov. 12, 1949, in Claypool she married Dean Parker, who died Aug. 12, 2009.
She grew up in Warsaw. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1946 and then attended beauty school, graduating in 1947. After moving to Colorado, she worked at CSU-Cambridge House as the head housekeeper.
She was a member of United Methodist churches and attended a Baptist Church in Broaddus, Texas. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club while in Texas. She loved camping and fishing with her family. She also enjoyed mushroom hunting in Michigan during May. After marriage, she and Dean lived in Silver Lake, later moving to Warsaw. The family moved to Fort Collins, Colo., in 1964. In 1974, they returned to Indiana. After retirement in 1998 as head cook at Warsaw Middle School, she and her family moved to Broaddus, Texas. After the death of her husband, she lived in Florida and then moved to the Greeley area and has been there since.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (and spouse John) Crowe, Eaton; a son, Jeffry L.(and spouse Barbera) Parker, Apple Valley, Calif.; a sister, Barbara Parker, Warsaw; eight grandchildren: Ron, Cody, Dan, Melissa, Christina, Jenna, John and DeAnn; eight great-grandchildren; and her very dear friends, whom were called the Fabulous Five from 6th grade until the present: Everlyn, Jody, Ann and Mary.
Services were at 2 p.m. today at Stoddard Funeral Home, Greeley.
Calling was from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
