NORTH MANCHESTER – Betty J. McKee, 85, North Manchester, died at 6 p.m. April 20, 2016, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 4, 1931, in North Manchester, to Heber Carson and Mamie Valetta Clark Hare. On Jan. 7, 1949, she married Bobbie James McKee, who preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1996.
A lifelong North Manchester resident, she lived in Silver Lake from 1984 to 1995 and returned to North Manchester in 1995. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1948.
She was a homemaker and worked at Tracy’s Market, the former RBM Manufacturing, Tri-Wic and Warner Corp. and retired from Marshall Electric in 1995. She was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester.
Survivors include a son, Michael J. McKee, Akron; a daughter, Christine A. Miller, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Angela E. (and Brian) Ball, Nashville, Tenn.; Jason L. Finch, Warsaw; Kelli A. Schneider, Huntington; and Abbey L. (and Troy) Martin and Mattie R. McKee, all of North Manchester; five great-grandchildren: Shanice Ball, Rory Nolin, Regann Finch, Ashley Schneider and Malery McKee; and a step-great-granddaughter, Kaidyn Flohr. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Orda O., Joseph L., James R. and John W. Hare; and five sisters: Ethel Marvin, Josephine Middleton, Helen Anderson, Marjorie Hare and Mary Quinn.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. A commital service is Monday at 11 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
