NAPPANEE - Bernard L. Cannon, 69, of 9689 E. Holmes Court, Cromwell, died at 9:34 a.m. March 31, 2009, in Goshen General Hospital, after a long illness.

He was born April 4, 1939, in Washington, Ind., to Lester and Margueriete Cochran Cannon. On March 2, 1973, he married Betty J. Zartman, who died March 25, 2000.

He retired from Chore Time Brock after 22 years and was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in Alaska. He attended Milford Christian Church and was a member of Disabled American Veterans 19, Elkhart.

Surviving are a son, Barry (and spouse Marcy) Cannon, Cromwell; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Holderman, Edwardsburg, Mich.; and three brothers: Lester (and spouse Sue) Cannon, Bremen; Larry (and spouse Rose) Cannon, South Bend; Jerry (and spouse Donna) Cannon, Plymouth. He was preceded in death by a daughter and three brothers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery with military graveside services.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
