He was born June 22, 1938, in Great Bend, Kan., to Nile Leon and Clarissa Tucker King. On Oct. 26, 1985, in Bluffton, he married Sharon G. Metheny, who survives.
He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1956. He had worked for I&M (AEP) Power Company for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Circle W Riders and also a member of the Horse and Pony Club of the Bluffton Street Fair.
Also surviving are five sons: Tim (and spouse Leann) King, Geneva, Fla.; Chris King, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Joe King, Milwaukee, Wis.; David King, Bluffton; and Matthew Gibson, Warsaw; two daughters, Marjorie (and spouse Tom) Lister, Decatur, and Gina (and Chad Lamons) Azzara, Markle; seven grandchildren; Tara (and spouse Shane) Disheaux, Fort Wayne; Bryant King, Oveido, Fla.; Julia King, Geneva, Fla.; Kayden King, Bluffton; Guy and Ava Lister, both of Decatur; Nick Dellinger, Markle; and three great-grandchildren: Gianna, Landon and Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Burial is in Stahl Cemetery, Petroleum.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Thoma-Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton.
