After he completed his World War II service, the couple moved to Walkerton and Bill managed the St. Joseph Farm Bureau Co-op and Kay was a surgical and clinical nurse.
In 1954, he accepted a position with Monsanto Corporation to open and operate a new fertilizer plant in Servia and moved the family to North Manchester. Later, the business was acquired by the Farm Bureau Co-op and he continued to operate business until he retired. He also stayed in the Naval Reserve for 20 years and retired as lieutenant commander. Kay became the school nurse for the Manchester Community school system. During her 22-year tenure, she established the volunteer community fund which supported children within the school system on dental, medical, vision and clothing needs. She also started the Christmas Box program which later became “Reach.” She was involved with the addition of Thrift Shop and Food Pantry. She stayed involved for more than 30 years.
The couple has enjoyed boating of all types including floating the Eel River. They have travelled extensively, wintered in Florida, gardened and canned. Bill has also enjoyed building numerous woodwork items.
The couple has two children: Sharon (and spouse Donald) Smith, Warsaw, and the late Stephen (and spouse Jane) Bellinger, North Manchester. They have three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.[[In-content Ad]]

Get To Know The Team: Warsaw Captains Q&A
Earlier this week, I had the privilege of going to a Warsaw football practice and speaking with four of the team’s five captains. With so much having been written in recent weeks about their performance on the field, and rightfully so, I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit and ask them some questions about themselves. Each of the four players were asked the same eight questions. Below are each of their answers.

Kosciusko County
2025 Meetings

Town of Claypool
Additional Appropriations

KCCRVC
2025 Meetings

Solid Waste
