Beauty Vs. Security

I dropped into the city council meeting this week. They were talking about banning chain link fences in front yards.
I commented thanks to the Mayors politeness as I am a foreigner who lives 3 miles out in the sticks.
I reminded the council a chain fence should be considered a security subject not a piece of beauty.
A locked chain link fence may be your first line of defense against home invasion by the growing number of crazies out there. Enough time to alert the police or unlock your gun.
I believe this ordinance under constitutional law would be a bad ordinance. Also it could cost the city a lot of money if someone in a low income area were to be seriously terrorized after they had been denied a security fence.
