Scrafton grew up in Brownsburg, and after high school attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute. She graduated from ISU with an insurance and risk management major and criminology minor. After college, she moved back to Indianapolis and began working for ONB Insurance Group d/b/a JW Flynn Co. She worked at JW Flynn for 2-1/2 years as a CSA in the professional liability department.
In August 2007 Scrafton and her family moved to Warsaw. Scrafton has been married to her husband, Jared, for about 2-1/2 years. In Indianapolis, Jared worked for Chautauqua Airlines as a commercial airline pilot and now is a captain for a charter company in Warsaw. The Scraftons have a son, Jace.
