She was born June 15, 1923, in Floyd County, Ky., to Jack and Biddie Hackworth Merritt. On Aug. 31, 1940, she married Malcolm Hackworth, who died Sept. 18, 1997.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a son, James (and spouse Bonnie) Hackworth, Winona Lake; a daughter, Judy (and spouse Marvin) Gunter, Warsaw; a brother, James (and spouse Bonnie) Merritt, Pierceton; four grandchildren; a step-grandson; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Ed French officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
