Beaman Home Plans Fundraiser for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Beaman Home, the area's shelter for victims of domestic violence, is planning a bingo fundraiser Oct. 13 at Center Lake Pavilion, Warsaw.

Assisting with the fundraiser will be members of Altrusa International of Warsaw who established the Beaman Home July 1, 1985.

The public is invited to participate in the bingo.

Tickets for the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. 

Ticket price includes two bingo cards, a light meal and chance to win a door prize. 

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. 

Bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. To get advance tickets, call the Beaman Home Administration Office at 574-269-3044 or an Altrusa representative at 574-267-5386.

People can also visit 3552 U.S. 30E Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Beaman Home serves approximately 150 in-home clients annually and another 1,000 through its outreach program. 

Half of those are children under the age of 16. As part of its ongoing services, the home recently opened a new Basic Needs Center where they collect, count and display food, clothing and other vital items a family needs as they begin rebuilding their lives violence-free.

All proceeds will benefit the programs and services of the Beaman Home, which has served the community's domestic violence victims and their dependent children for more than 26 years.[[In-content Ad]]
