Beaman Home Phase I Construction Nearing Completion

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Beaman Home Executive Director Tracie Hodson announced Phase I construction of the new Beaman Home Emergency Shelter and Outreach Center facility, 603 Parker St., Warsaw, is nearing completion.
Despite the unfinished look on the outside of the building, final remodeling on the inside is nearly finished.  Administrative staff and outreach advocates have moved into the remodeled Outreach Center, according to a press release from the Beaman Home.
The Outreach Center includes a children’s activities center, adult meeting rooms, kitchen and dining facilities, as well as staff office space. The new center will allow Beaman Home to serve domestic violence families whether or not they are staying in the emergency shelter. This approach allows all clients to take part in on-going counseling and training programs, the release states. The new programs will work to reduce victims’ repeated involvement with domestic violence abusers and reduce or eliminate the generational cycle of domestic violence prevalent in abused families.
The organization has not had the space to provide these services in the past, and outreach staff is eager to begin the new programs. The programs will serve as examples for other domestic violence centers in Indiana and are expected to begin soon, according to the release.
Phase II construction will begin within a few weeks for the two-story emergency shelter being built on the west side of the Outreach Center. Phase II will include a secured reception entrance that will be added to the northwest corner of the Outreach Center.
Hodson said “the exterior design elements will be finished once the reception center and two-story shell are in place.”  Phase II will be completed by year end at which time a grand opening will be held for capital campaign donors and area emergency personnel.
The Beaman Home has been providing essential services to domestic violence victims and their children living in Kosciusko, Marshall and Fulton counties since 1985.
