The Aviation Association of Indiana  presented Warsaw Municipal Airport’s former manager, David Beall, with the AAI Person of the Year award for 2013.
The posthumous award was presented to Warsaw Mayor Joseph Thallemer and David Beall’s family on Oct. 10 at the AAI’s Annual Conference in Plymouth. Since 1956, AAI has presented this honor to the person that has made significant contributions to Indiana’s aviation industry.
Beall served as Warsaw’s Airport Manager and president of AAI before stepping down early this year due to health.
He passed away in July of this year.
Beall graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1978 and served in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1983. After leaving the Army, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Indiana University. He later worked as a reporter before becoming Airport Manager in January 2000.
Beall became actively involved with the AAI and served as an AAI board member for several years before being nominated as the association’s president for the 2012-2013 term. He was active in promoting and dedicating funding for airports, assisting other airport managers and improving legislation for protection of Indiana airports.
Under Beall’s leadership, the Warsaw Municipal Airport won the AAI Airport of the Year award in 2006. His contributions and dedication to the aviation industy will continue under a memorial scholarship established under his name through AAI’s Aviation Scholarship program.[[In-content Ad]]
