Beacon Credit Union's six-month certificate of deposit recently was awarded a 2008 Datatrac Great Rate Award for outperforming the Indiana Market interest rate average by more than 32 percent for the 12-month period ending March 31.

"Compared to over 230 other financial institutions in the state of Indiana, Beacon Credit Union's six-month CD beat the market average 100 percent of the time," said Ken Wanek, president and CEO of Datatrac, a Milwaukee-based company that has been monitoring bank and credit union rates for more than 20 years.

Datatrac Great Rate Awards assure consumers that the rate offered by their financial institution consistently outperforms the market average, eliminating the cumbersome task of rate shopping.

"When you see a Great Rate Award, you know you're getting a good deal," said Wanek.

According to President Bruce Ingraham, "We continually strive to add value to the member owners who utilize this credit union and are excited that our certificate dividend rate has been recognized by Datatrac, and independent company that monitors deposit rates, as a market leader. As a cooperative, it is essential for Beacon Credit Union to return higher deposit rates and provide competitive loan terms on a consistent basis to its 39,000 member owners residing in north central Indiana."[[In-content Ad]]
