ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Baxter W. Paige died July 18, 2010.

He was born Jan. 13, 1936. His wife, Judith, survives.

He retired as superintendent of the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp., Mentone, June 30, 1992, after 12 years. Prior to that, he served as assistant superintendent of Avon Community Schools for a year; was principal of Avon Junior and Senior High School for a year; was principal at Mitchell High School for four years; was assistant principal at Mitchell High School for two years; varsity football coach and social studies teacher at Clinton Prairie High School, Clinton Prairie School Corp., Frankfort, for three years; varsity football coach and social studies teacher at North White High School, North White School Corp., Monon, for four years; and varsity football coach and social studies teacher at Cannelton High School for two years. He had 23 years of successful experience as a public school administrator in Indiana. He was a member/institutional representative of IAPSS during his entire tenure as a superintendent of schools. He served on the IAPSS Federal Legislation Committee during the 1990-91 membership year. He received the IAPSS Ten Year Award in 1990.

Also surviving are a daughter, Kimra Y. (and spouse Mark) Eiser, Mentone; a son, Keith B. (and spouse Kelly) Paige, Boonville; a sister, Wanda (and spouse Phil) Norman, Terre Haute; a brother, Jerry (and spouse Judi) Lanzone, Rosedale; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 4 at Riviera United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg, Fla., and at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Akron United Methodist Church.
