The Barbee Hotel will be featured Saturday in an episode of “The Dead Files,” a ghost-hunting series on the Travel Channel.
The show follows retired homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi and medium Amy Allan as they investigate murders and mysteries in locations reputed to be haunted. In the sixth-season episode, which airs Saturday at 10 p.m., Allan encounters a dead woman who may have been the victim of a brutal crime and confronts a threatening male entity determined to terrorize the living, according to the episode description from the Travel Channel.
Dan Signore, who has owned the hotel situated between Big Barbee and Little Barbee lakes for nine years, said there’s plenty of paranormal activity to find. He said guests have reported hearing kids running up and down the hallway and seeing black shadowy figures, among other apparitions.
The hotel, now a restaurant and bar, was originally built in 1876, he said, but burned down and was rebuilt in the 1940s. The filming crew spent a week on-site in June, also interviewing local officials and business owners. Signore confirmed that the crew did “find something” during their visit.
The hotel will hold a viewing party with dinner during the show Saturday, by reservation. He said a few seats are still available.
