GOSHEN - Barbara Ann Thompson, 62, of 5719 E. CR 900N, Syracuse, died April 28, 2009, in her residence.

She was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Centerville, Mich., to Andrew and Evelyn Austin Goodsell. On Aug. 1, 1975, in Sherwood, Mich., she married Douglas W. Thompson, who survives.

She was assistant manager for housekeeping and maintenance at Oaklawn, retiring March 31, 2009, and received 20-year recognition. She was a member of Grace Community Church, where she was active in the Grace in Jail Ministry and served as assistant chaplain at the Elkhart County Jail.

Also surviving are two daughters, Melissa Thompson, Fort Wayne, and Sheryl (and spouse Mike) Bradshaw, North Webster; a son, Adam (and spouse Tracy) Thompson, Syracuse; six grandchildren; her mother, Evelyn Hart, Bronson, Mich.; and a sister, Debra (and spouse Rick) Wohlers, Bronson. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. There will be cremation.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
