Baldwin, Cleveland Tops At Lakeland

Julie Baldwin is the valedictorian and Melinda Cleveland the salutatorian of Lakeland Christian Academy's graduating class of 2001.
Baldwin, the daughter of Chuck and Debby Baldwin of Winona Lake, will graduate with a GPA of 98.74 on a 100-point scale. She has earned the LCA Christian Service and Character awards, the Silver LCA Merit Pin, All A and A and B Honor Roll awards. She received a Gold Honor Cord and was recognized as a distinguished Christian high school student. She also was awarded the Selma McKrill Brown Scholarship, was a member of the cheerleading squad, performed in drama productions and was a member of the homecoming court. She plans to attend IPFW.
Salutatorian Melinda Cleveland will graduate with a GPA of 96.38. The daughter of Paul and Judy Cleveland, she has earned the LCA Christian Service Award and the All A and A and B Honor Roll awards. She received a Gold Honor Cord and was named a distinguished Christian high school student. She was a member of the school band, the soccer team and the cheerleading squad, and was a member of the Atlantic Bridge 2001 Mission Trip to Germany. She plans to attend Purdue University to major in biology in preparation for veterinary school.
Adam Turner and Stephanie Wilson were named by the LCA faculty to receive the Timothian Award, which is given to the graduating seniors who best exemplify the exhortation found in I Timothy 4:12: "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
Turner, the son of David and Claudia Turner, Leesburg, earned the LCA Christian Character Award, Jubal Music Award, Silver and Gold LCA Merit Pins and the All A and A and B Honor Roll awards. He also received a Gold Honor Cord, was a distinguished Christian high school student, participated in student government, band, ministry team, drama, soccer and basketball, was a member of mission teams to Bonaire, was on the yearbook staff and represented his class at homecoming. He plans to attend Taylor University, Fort Wayne, and major in criminal justice.
Wilson is the daughter of Tim and Sharon Wilson, Warsaw. She has received the LCA Christian Character and Service awards, the All A and A and B Honor Roll awards, the National School Choral Award and the Gold Honor Cord. She also was recognized as a distinguished Christian high school student. She was the yearbook and newspaper editor and the homecoming queen, and participated in choir, LCA ministry team and drama. She received a scholarship from the Miss Kosciusko Pageant, the Lucetta Frantz Scholarship and a music scholarship from Grace College. She plans to attend Grace and major in music education.
