Awakening America

On the night before the Awakening America Tent Revival I sat at the door of the tent and looked out watching children playing. Behind them the sun was setting in the west with a beautiful display of colors. I couldn't help but think and ask the question, "Will those children see the sunset of America?"

In my life-time our country has declined as the Judeo-Christian foundation has slowly been chipped away. In their own wisdom and arrogance our political leaders have squandered the great legacy given to us by our Founding Fathers and generations after them. Now we stand at the precipice of moral and financial ruin. So what is the answer? The recurring theme in the tent meetings was that the church needs to repent. Salt and light is needed in this darkening and decaying nation. Billy Sunday once said, "The hope of America is in Christ, not in free trade; it's not in the banking system, it's not in tariff reform, or conservation of natural resources or the ship problem or universities. We need a great tidal wave of religion."

America needs to ask forgiveness for our pride and false security in technology and wealth and return to the timeless laws of nature and trust in nature's God. Awakening America calls the church (which includes me) to wake up and be the body of Christ. For the sun of liberty to continue to shine on us and future generations He is our only hope.
