Aviation Board Approves Hangar Leases

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

The Board of Aviation Commissioners met Tuesday evening to discuss a “pretty basic month.”
Airport Manager Nick King said the month has been pretty standard. Several hangar leases were approved, including those for Dan Metzger, Brian Kincaid, David Stackhouse, John Yingling and Dan Harstine. Brad Jackson is also currently building his hangar.
Engineer Ken Ross updated the board on the various projects in process. He said the environmental assessment has a few minor tweaks, but other than that, is ready to be sent to the FFA. He said he has a copy of the draft if anyone has any interest in seeing it.
Ross said there has been progress with the guidance sign installation project as well. Michiana Contracting installed the cables, conduits and foundation. He said the signs are set to be installed on Feb. 16, weather permitting. This project is set to be completed by April 6.
King said fuel sales are continuing to rise  because many pilots are buying gas from Warsaw because gas is almost $1.50 cheaper than surrounding airports in the area. He also said he never had to officially close the airport so far this winter. He said the city and street department were very helpful by bringing their new snow blower to clear the runway and make the runway lights visible.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for March 10 at 5:15 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
